Revolutionizes Wi-Fi Planning, Analysis and Troubleshooting, Again.
Wi-Fi Planning Following the highly successful launches of Ekahau Connect and Ekahau Survey for iPad earlier this year, we are launching today Ekahau Survey for iPhone, along with a key new feature, Autopilot Survey, which takes the productivity and ease of use in Wi-Fi planning and troubleshooting to a completely new level.
Ekahau Survey for iPhone is the first professional grade Wi-Fi site survey tool now available for both iPhones and iPads. Using mobile devices while conducting site surveys eliminates the need to lug around a laptop, while still delivering intuitive user experience and accurate measurements.
The new Autopilot Survey reduces the site survey costs by 50%. It is substantially faster (up to 33%) than traditional Wi-Fi survey methods as the Autopilot Survey continuously tracks the user’s location and synchronizes with the survey measurements. This enables a faster walking speed and — especially in environments with lots of rooms and doors to open — surveying is now easier as you can freely enter and exit rooms without continuously interrupting the site survey.
Andrew McHale, a current Ekahau customer and Implementation Engineer at Vocera, UK-based enterprise voice wireless network provider, attended a pre-launch briefing session on the new product and had this to say, “Ekahau’s upcoming Autopilot Survey is their biggest innovation so far. It is a game-changer for people who want fast, easy, accurate Wi-Fi site surveys. With the additional launch of Ekahau Survey for iPhone, this will increase the mobility of our network engineers, and the improved accuracy will reduce the total number of site visits required.”

The continuous location tracking allows full freedom of movement, meaning that survey routes don’t need to be planned in advance. Changes in survey route or in walking speed do not impact the accuracy of the measurements, and it is no longer needed to restart the survey from last route point in case something unexpected happens during the survey.
Another important benefit is the improved safety aspect. Autopilot Survey requires substantially less attention (up to 79% less route clicks), enabling the surveyor to be more aware of his/her surroundings. As the iPhone or iPad can be carried using just one hand, the other hand is available to open doors, grab support rails, etc. while still continuously performing the site survey.
Ekahau Survey 1.2 release for iPhone and iPad is included with an Ekahau Connect subscription and can be downloaded from the Apple App Store.
